2018 Lifestyle Favorites

Here are some of my favorites from 2018! A little bit of everything — from beauty to fashion to electronics to totally random stuff! I only included items I genuinely use & love... I don’t care if it’s “trendy” or not! No long intro, let’s get straight to the favorites!

Beauty

L’Occitane Shea Butter

It’s pricey, but I swear by this stuff. I used it all over my body during pregnancy & after. It’s a miracle worker for dryness, cellulite, stretch marks, saggy skin, so much more. I will use it forever.

Mario Badescu Cucumber Cleansing Lotion

I don’t like toners because they feel so harsh. This one has zero alcohol & feels very gentle. First I wash my face with a cleanser, then I use this on my face & neck with a cotton pad. Then finish with moisturizer.

Smith’s Rosebud Salve Lipbalm

It’s simply my favorite lip balm of all time. Once you try it, there’s no going back.

Olay Luminous Gel Mask

My skin LOVES this stuff. I use it every single night as my moisturizer on my face & neck. This is another product that when I forget to use it, I can definitely tell the next day.

Wet Brush (Pop Fold)

I’ve owned the original Wet Brush for years & love it. This one folds up & is SO convenient. I’m obsessed.

Seche Vite Top Coat

This top coat is so good you guys!! It dries SO fast & is really long wearing.

Fashion

Lululemon High-Rise Tight

I’m so glad I invested in these a few years ago. I’ve had this same pair for FOUR YEARS & they still feel brand new. The quality & durability are insane. I’ve worn them all over the world on my travels, I wore them through all 9 months of pregnancy, I wear them around the house every single day… I seriously can’t sing their praises enough.

Express V-neck Tee

I’m a t-shirt & jeans kinda gal. I have these tees in several colors & they are my go-to’s.

Converse Slip-Ons

I still love my original converse, but when they came out with the slip-on style it was a total game-changer for this lazy girl!

(Tip: I bought them in a kids size & saved like $20! I’m a women’s size 8 - i got them in a children’s size 5 & they fit perfectly. CLICK HERE FOR LINK to kids sizes!)

Hair Clip

Just a simple & practical hair clip (a mom-life essential!) I adore this tortoise-print clip from J-Crew that I got as a gift, but you don’t need to spend $20 to get a good one.

Home

Reusable Straws

Recently, I’ve become much more aware of how harmful items like plastic straws can be to the environment, so I’m trying to be more mindful of my personal contributions to that. I keep these stainless steel straws in my handbag so I don’t have to get plastic straws in my drinks at places like Starbucks or at restaurants. Then we use THESE reusable plastic straws at home.

Mason Jars

This one’s super random, but I’m seriously obsessed with mason jars. I keep various sizes in a cabinet & find myself reaching for them multiple times a day. We use them for so many different purposes… We use them for our drinking glasses, food storage instead of tupperware, vases for flowers, diy candles, measuring liquids when cooking, toothbrush holder, storage for pens or small items, serving dishes for condiments or butter. And I’m constantly finding new ways to use them.

Nonstick Ceramic Skillet

I don’t know why we ever used anything else. Makes cooking SO much easier & cleaning up a breeze.

Drawer Organizers/Dividers

Every single drawer in my house has some sort of organizer in it! I’m a little too obsessed with making sure every one is neat & easy to navigate. I use the ones above & THESE clear plastic ones in shallow drawers, and THESE in deeper bedroom drawers.

Food

Veggie Straws

We are intense snackers in our household. I can eat a whole bag of these veggie straws in a single sitting… simple, tasty & so addicting.

Silk Soy Coffee Creamer

I’m not vegan or dairy-free, I just really like this soy coffee creamer! I like the original one better than the vanilla, it’s not as sweet, I just couldn’t find a photo of the original one. (You can find them at pretty much any grocery store.)

Nespresso Espresso Machine

It’s not cheap, but if you’re a coffee-addict then it’s well worth the investment! (I’ve tried THESE knock-off pods & they are way cheaper but admittedly aren’t as good as THESE Nespresso ones.)

Electronics

Wireless iPhone Charger

So convenient! I keep it next to my bed. It even charges with the case on.

iPhone Ring Light

I throw it in my handbag when I’m going out to nicer dinner/events where it will be dark & I know we will be taking lots of photos, it makes a huge difference! I also use it at home when I’m taking cute photos & videos of the baby.

Olympus 14-42mm f3.5-5.6 Lens

I invested in a nicer camera earlier this year so we could have lots of nice family photos of our new baby & I have really enjoyed learning the basics of photography & lenses. This lens is super easy to use & very versatile, & I would highly recommend it for beginners like myself!

Apps

Amazon Prime

Makes mom life SO much easier so we don’t have to go out to the store whenever we need something. Plus we subscribe to items like diapers, wipes & formula so they automatically reorder every few weeks so we never run out. Get a 30 day free trial HERE.

Sporcle

It’s an app with a ton of trivia games in different categories. If you’re a nerd like me, you’ll love it. I can’t even tell you the hours I’ve spent on it when I need to kill time at places like the airport. But hey, at least I’m learning, it’s better than playing candy crush (also guilty btw).

Lightroom

I’ve been using Lightroom on desktop for years, it’s so convenient now that you can use it on your phone too! It’s truly amazing how powerful it is. I love learning new ways to use it!

KiraKira+

Add sparkles to your photos. SPARKLES. Enough said.

Entertainment

The Honest Life

I love the ideas in this book on how to live a more natural life, especially as a new mom. There’s a ton of information, but there’s something in it for everyone.

Serial Podcast

I’ve really been enjoying listening to podcasts recently. My favorite of the year was Serial Season 1. It’s a nonfiction story about a murder trial from the 90s; it’s very interesting & innovative because you hear the story from many perspectives.

The Greatest Showman

The world needs more feel-good movies like this! I can watch it 10x over & over.

Friends

Forever on my yearly favorites list. Forever.
